Luismal Ferreiras claims Dominican Rep. LNB Hoops Agents weekly honour

Talented Luismal Ferreiras (200-PF-2003) had a very impressive game in the last round for Indios de San Francisco and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 21-year old power forward had a double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds, while his team edged out Metros (#2, 4-2) 108-105. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Indios is placed at 3rd position in Dominican Rep. LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Indios will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. Ferreiras just recently signed at Indios, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Ferreiras has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 17.4ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 11.0rpg) and averages solid 1.4bpg and 53.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young power forward Juan Guerrero (203-PF-1993) of second-ranked Metros de Santiago. Guerrero impressed basketball fans with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Metros was edged by slightly lower-ranked Indios (#3, 3-2) 108-105. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Metros still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 4-2 record is not bad at all. Guerrero is one of the most experienced players at Metros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.3ppg (#1). He also registered 8.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Jose Familia (201-C-1998) of Soles de Santo Domingo (#8). Familia scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Familia's great performance the Soles lost 83-85 to the higher-ranked Metros (#2, 4-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Soles can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-5 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Familia has a very solid season. In 6 games in Dominican Republic he scored 6.8ppg. He also has 6.0rpg and a FGP of 80.0%.
